Meet Dr. Kayla Hill Blevins

Dr. Kayla Hill BlevinsI have always wanted to be a doctor – though it took me a long time to figure out what type. As a kid, I figured out that the human body had the incredible ability to heal itself. From then on, I sought a career path that would allow me to work with this innate human ability, rather than against it. For a while, I thought becoming a medical doctor would allow me to do that.

I grew up in Goldsboro, North Carolina. After graduating high school as a homeschooler in 2011, I received a full academic scholarship to UNC-Greensboro where I studied biology with a concentration in pre-medicine. Soon after beginning college, I developed low back pain and leg weakness. It took a couple of years and a few doctors for me to learn that it was the result of a birth deformity in my low back, as well as minor injuries that accumulated over the years from falls, fender-benders, and the like.

Education and Chiropractic College

I spent my four years of college desperately trying to maintain my ability to walk while working as a CNA and applying to medical schools. To make matters worse, I also began to experience 3-4 debilitating migraines a month. In my final semester of college, I discovered chiropractic–a profession dedicated to amplifying the body’s natural ability to heal and maintain itself by removing interference from the nervous system.

In July 2015, two months after graduating from UNC-G, I matriculated at Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Shortly after beginning classes, I discovered upper cervical chiropractic care. Because of upper cervical (Atlas) adjustments, I no longer have low back pain, and I have regained the full use of my legs. In addition, my migraines are nonexistent.

I graduated in December 2018 as a Doctor of Chiropractic with certifications in Basic I and II Orthospinology technique, as well as Proficiency in Chiropractic Radiology. I have since completed the Advanced Graduate class and I am a board certified Atlas Orthospinologist and proficient in Activator Methods. Orthospinology is a gentle form of Atlas/Upper Cervical Care similar to Grostic, NUCCA, or Atlas Orthogonality.

After opening my own successful practice in Garner two years ago, I am so excited to be partnering with Dr. Boccella at Atlas Chiropractic. I look forward to meeting you soon!
